Raising a Genderless Baby
Saturday I came across the headline Is this a Boy or a Girl? on the cover of the Saturday Star. A Toronto couple has decided to keep the gender of their 3rd baby a secret. The baby, named Storm, is 4 months old and they have shared his or her sex only with sons Jazz, 5, and Kio, 2, a close family friend and the two midwives who helped deliver the baby. The parents, Kathy Witterick and David Stocker, believe a child's sex should not determine his or her social status. The couple has received some harsh criticism for their choice. What do you think? I think parents should support gender-creative children, for example, Evan often asks me to paint his nails, or wants me to put lip gloss on him when he sees me doing it. I also think it's ok for boys to play with dolls and girls to play with trucks. But is this family going too far? I encourage you to read the article and share your thoughts.

I dont like to criticise the way people should raise their children, however, this in my opinion has gone too far. I dont think that Jazz should look like a girl when he is indeed a boy..... just my thought. I can see giving a teenager the choice with who he wants to be but just cannot do that completely with a toddler let alone newborn.
